Tíscar Espadas x 37A

37A is pleased to present ROMERAJE at its gallery space in Seoul. On view from March 28th until April 6th, 2025, this presentation marks the debut of Spanish designer Tíscar Espadas in South Korea. The exhibition will showcase a selection of garments from Espadas' collections alongside unique drawings that provide insight into her creative process.

The story of Tíscar Espadas continues to grow internationally, adding a new chapter by moving the campament to the city of Seoul. The doors of 37A will open as a portal between the imaginary and the real world, showing how boundaries can be bridged through dreams, desire, and creativity in the search for a common illusion. The principal focus of the exhibition will be Chapter VI, although it will be accompanied by a small selection of garments from other collections. Garments awaiting a body to warm. To hide and to reveal. To express. The idea behind this event is also to interact with local artists and craftsmen, for which Cherrien— an uprising Korean ceramic artist, is actively contributing by showcasing her new work, including a few collaborative pieces made exclusively for Tiscar Espadas, in hopes of bringing their universe to life in Seoul.

‘Romeraje’, a word woven with echoes of pilgrimage and ritual, speaks of the act of journeying not just through landscapes, but through time, memory, and meaning. It is a passage where tradition and reinvention meet, where craftsmanship becomes storytelling, and where each piece holds the whispers of its origins while embracing new horizons.

37A is honored to present Tíscar Espadas’ work for the first time in Korea. As part of our commitment to bridging cultures through artistic expression, 37A has invited Tíscar Espadas to bring her unique vision to Seoul. Founded in London in 2019 and currently based in Madrid, her eponymous brand represents a seamless blend of tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and innovation. This exhibition marks the first-ever international artisan fashion exhibition at 37A, offering a rare opportunity to experience a fashion perspective deeply rooted in sustainability, humanism, and cultural heritage.

Through this exhibition, we seek to create a dialogue between Korean and Spanish artistry, celebrating the timeless language of fashion as an art form. Visitors will witness not only her garments but also a selection of her personal drawings, showcasing the depth of her creative universe.

Tíscar Espadas was born in Ubeda, Spain, in 1993. After years of artistic exploration and having lived in cities like London, Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Madrid, the young Spanish designer— recipient of the prestigious Vogue Fashion Fund 2024—has established her brand as one of the most promising in contemporary Spanish fashion. With a studio based in Madrid, Tíscar Espadas is committed to exploring fashion through a timeless and universal lens, rejecting the programmed obsolescence imposed by fast fashion. Each of her collections, structured as a series of "Capítulos" (Chapters), does not follow traditional fashion industry seasons but instead builds upon the previous one, forming a continuous and evolving aesthetic free from season or gender constraints.

Her international projection has taken her as far as Japan, where her collections have been warmly received, demonstrating how tradition and innovation can transcend cultural barriers. Deeply inspired by Spanish folklore, her work is a testament to sustainability and the fusion of traditional and contemporary artisanal techniques. Each piece is handcrafted in small workshops across Spain and is individually numbered to prevent overproduction.

At 37A, we believe in fostering artistic and cultural dialogue through diverse expressions. Nestled in the heart of Yongsan, in a Korean roof-tiled house, our space blends history and innovation, creating an atmosphere of warmth and inclusivity where creativity can thrive. Founded in May 2024 by Misong Kim, 37A is dedicated to curating exhibitions that enrich Seoul’s cultural landscape. From fine arts to craftsmanship, we champion both emerging Korean talent and international creators, offering a unique space for artistic exchange.

This exhibition with Tíscar Espadas marks an exciting new chapter for 37A, as we continue our mission to showcase pioneering artistry from around the world.
